Using Ping-o-Matic with FeedBurner

A few months ago we published a tip on how you could "ping" FeedBurner to make sure your feeds are updated instantly. We presented some instructions on how to configure Movable Type to ping FeedBurner, but that left many of you on other publishing platforms out in the cold.

Now, thanks to the good folks at Ping-o-Matic, the magic of pinging is available to all! There are few ways you can use the Ping-o-Matic service to notify FeedBurner when your feed has been updated.

Method 1: Configure your publishing tool to automatically ping Ping-o-Matic
This really isn't any different than the method mentioned in the previous tip, but instead of pinging http://ping.feedburner.com you ping http://rpc.pingomatic.com/ . Now, Ping-o-Matic will "relay" that ping to all of the services that they support (including weblogs.com, blo.gs, Technorati, and, of course, FeedBurner). One ping gets the job done!

Method 2: Use the Ping-o-Matic form
You can also use the Ping-o-Matic form to ping FeedBurner. Go to the form, enter your blog name (doesn't have to be exact) and your blog URL (which does have to be exact), check the FeedBurner service, and hit submit. Congratulations, you've just pinged FeedBurner and your feed will be freshly burned the next time it's accessed.

Method 3: Create a "ping bookmark"
This is a follow-on to method 2. Once you've submitted your ping, go ahead an bookmark the results page that you get back and name it something like "Ping FeedBurner". The URL will look something like http://pingomatic.com/ping/?title=Burn+This &blogurl=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.burningdoor.com%2Ffeedburner &chk_feedburner=on &Submit=Submit+Pings+%C2%BB. Now, just click on the bookmark and you ping FeedBurner. Cool!

Awesome, I was pinging both ping-o-matic and feedburner, but now I can go back to using only ping-o-matic.

Thanks guys.

Need to fix that first link to Ping-o-matic.

Thanks John!

WaW. nice pingomatic is now working without problems.

i remember that some times ago (3-6 months) problems are very often.

i check now ...it's awesome. it's working nice and all pings are successful

thx
