fire vs ac milan
AC Milan played the Chicago Fire last week here in Chicago. AC actually brought quite a few stars - Christian Vieri, Rui Costa, Cafu, and Maldini. Not as cool as the Real Madrid / Barca double header in Japan yesterday - but I love seeing these friendly games when they come on tour.

i feel like shakes the clown from all the drinking.
i haven't even had time to upgrade my PSP!

Officially --Today is the City's Hottest Day in 10 years [via WGN Weather Blog]
Yep, it sure was hot today in Chicago.
It's great the WGN has a Weather Blog here, even if they just paste JPGs in most of the time.
anyway, it was a good day to hang by the pool. I had toast for breakfast. It was hot too.

nextBLAST
the latest version of nextBLAST is really cool. another better bloglines than bloglines.
It is both a combo Desktop aggregator and wireless aggregator via WAP SMS or WAP Push. A great execution on RSS-as-alerts. This was one of the ideas we had when we were pondering what turned into FeedBurner - which is of course a bit of a different direction.
Some of these things cost Flooz, but that's okay. Flooz was an idea before its time.
Of course, to do some of these things, you need an SMS verification...and i've been waiting for mine for a good hour now. I'd blame Cingular for this before i'd blame them, though.

next version of DoCoMo browser supports RSS
This is pretty cool - the Scope Browser, used on DoCoMo and FOMA branded phones in Japan will be supporting RSS in the next release. You can read about it in this
this press release (translated by google) but in a nutshell it supports RSS autodiscovery and enclosures.
I will definitely be interested in seeing how the implementation works out.
How long before Mobile Opera follows suit?

Rick Klau on the Chris Pirillo Show
FeedBurner's very own Rick Klau shows his RSS / Podcasting chops on this episode of the Chris Pirillo show. He does a great job of answering questions on how Apple vs. Microsoft vs. Yahoo! has handled rich media extensions to RSS.

stealth mode startups?
i saw this entry for the omni-explorer crawler in my FB statistics today, and so i went to follow the URL to see what it was...
Omni-Explorer is a stealth-mode venture-backed startup based in Silicon Valley. Stay tuned to this site; we plan on launching shortly.
i don't mean to pick on these guys because i have no idea who they are - but i'm not sure i get "stealth-mode" startups. i'm trying to think of a successful startup that operated in stealth-mode for a long time and then came out and surprised the market, and i can't. when i see that i think "these guys don't really know what they are going to do yet" or "by the time they come out it will be too late".
i think the model for web 2.0 companies is to get to market early and react to customer feedback quickly. if you want to limit participation, limit participation - but don't be afraid someone is going to see your idea and leapfrog you. web 2.0 technology is too easy - you have to execute on other axes.
if you are going to operate in "stealth-mode" - i just wouldn't advertise it. you are just setting yourself up for a market letdown, imo.

seems like 6680 memory card woes are real
I posted awhile ago on 6680 ate my memory card and thought maybe i was nuts, but it looks like this is a real issue.
Since I switched over to a third party card, however I have had no problems, so perhaps are these just bad memory cards Nokia packed with these phones?

inside the apple switch [via ars technica]
i like a good conspiracy theory as much as the next guy. this article in ars technica is totally believable to me having been a part of a few sales and bizdev teams.
it's amazing how often vendors get screwed by their customers. mobile operators are especially good at this. motorola is a vendor in some of the most challenging industries...

ketars for sale
this only makes sense, but there are quite a few keytars available on ebay, cheap, cheap, cheap.
don't remember what the keytar is? it's pretty much the suckiest 80's instrument ever created.
the 80's are back with a vengeance, baby. i was just in Europe, and all the women are wearing off the shoulder sweaters, and leggings under their jean skirts. dudes are wearing lacoste shirts that used to be called izods.
there's a new twist that you are going to like. the latest trend for women is to grow out their nether regions and let it hang out of their bikini. the american pie era is over!

Sony PS2 as an RSS client?
I noticed today that there was a Sony Playstation user agent in my FeedBurner stats. It could just be a browser but was surprised to see it nonetheless!
