RSS widgets in Windows Vista

We've seen how IE7 integrates feeds - this preview from PC Magazine shows a very Konfabulator-like thing that has a "FeedView" widget as well. Not sure if that's the hook that will bring feeds to the mainstream, but making it pervasive sure won't hurt.

Pageflakes gets better
i continue to thing pageflakes is getting better and better, and the best AJAX homepage out there.
they keep releasing cool widgets - i love the alexa widget (zoom in on the page above) and the ability to put a technorati mini into a subset of my homepage. sure this can all be done with google personalized home, but i don't know what it is about it, it's all easier and better with pageflakes.
they seem to be innovating really quickly, which is something that google and my yahoo! won't be able to do because of the scale at which they have to test and release.
keep up the good work, guys!

P990 Features, straight from the source

I would want to try this versus the Nokiaberry S60 with a keyboard, both with a push email service.

Cheney Accidentally Shoots Fellow Hunter

during a recent stint in London, I had to convince some people that no, America was not like the tv show "24" - people don't jump out of black vans in NY brandishing AK-47s shooting up the place. the people on Jerry Springer aren't really the best slice of America we like to represent ourselves with either, but yes, at least half of America is willing to elect a certified moron, and a bigger joke of a Vice-President who look likes his ticker is about to give out at any given moment, allowing Denny Hastert, from my very own St. Charles, Il, the man who said they should have just let New Orleans stay forever buried below sea level, take office.
I can't wait for the jokes on this one!

skype VOIP has been sucking lately...anyone else agree?
This article in techworld indicates that Skype users are getting driven away. Is the network too saturated?
I use Skype a lot for both IM and VOIP, but I must say, the last few weeks, the VOIP call quality has been pretty, well, for lack of a better term, piss poor. This has been from various network connections in various places in the world. It used to be much more consistent for me.

what? they discovered another planet?

My 5 year old son came home from school the other day and asked me to read a book on the planets. He then proceeded to tell me there were acutally ten planets now. I just said "uh-huh" and kept reading. when they hell did they discover another planet? have i been living in a fucking cave? oh wait, that's Osama Bin Laden.

a fever you can't sweat out - panic at the disco

i haven't written about any music in quite a while, quite frankly, because i haven't heard anything that has has moved me to do so in quite a while. let's face it, either i'm getting older every day, or the music today is mostly over-produced derivative crap. a fever you can't sweat out is no different and this is a bit of an old record, but i guess when you get derivative enough, you get something new and fresh.
anyway, this one has to be played loud. i mean really loud.
think thursday with fallout boy with shudder to think.

some BlackBerry cases
The aftermarket mobile accessories market is pretty fascinating, and it's big business. The device manufacturers know it, and even have business development people assigned to accessories. They feed off each other. Device manufacturers know that some people buy their phone based on how it can be customized.

the P990 - and Shobe rejoices
well, mobilewhack doesn't seem to be responding, so i'll point upstream to engadget, like they need more traffic. at any rate, if you like the P910, seems like you'll love the P990. Business card reader, huh. i could sure use one of those. it will be interesting to see how the push email on the P990 compares to the BlackBerry, on which I am once again hooked. The BlackBerry 5800c is pretty frickin' sweet.

funky keyboard on Sony Ericsson M800
First of all, is this really the Register? I've never seen these black pages before. Anyway - this isn't the P990, but a younger cousin. It will be interesting to see what it can do and what the next version of Symbian UIQ can do as well.
