Dancing About Architecture: Buffalo LinkStation

I have to agree with Eric's recommendation for Memeo that comes with the Buffalo LinkStation.  It's so fire-and-forget.   I just set it to copy MyDocuments and my media off to some places on my network at home.  It accumulates the changes I make all day, and as soon as I hit the home wi-fi - it backs everything up automatically.  Exactly how you'd want this to work.  The Buffalo LinkStation is cool too.  It's a network appliance that just can provide windows share directories, and also can act as a print server.

My HD DVR

the following story was HD Beat today, and I had to think how it applied to me. I absolutely love having a Comcast HD DVR.  Tivo so missed the boat by not licensing to Comcast.  I've been a Tivo owner since the very first version, but I have a hard time thinking why i'd want to buy a Tivo over the Comcast HD DVR.

Yes!  I watch a lot more HD with the DVR than I would otherwise. I can't stand watching std TV anymore, so I pretty much only record stuff in HD, so that's really all I watch, aside from the GOL channel.  but I got spoiled watching the world cup in HD as well, so I'm even having a hard time watching GOL in std def.

USB Shaver

It would make all of our lives a lot easier.  Well, those of us who travel anyway.  Too bad I have never found an electric razor that works worth a shit.  Really.  They all suck.

PSP Connect Service Incoming - Kotaku

We all knew this was coming.  Very cool.  The PSP is such a great movie watching device.  Let's see if Sony can attract the same level of interest that the iTunes store has.

a moment of silence for the Rio brand

a agree with Gizmodo. i feel a little sad about Rio music players going away, simply because my old Diamond Rio PMP 300 was my first, and i played the shit out of that thing, even with only 32 MB of RAM.

that said, i wouldn't buy one of these players today, as they just aren't up to snuff with what Apple and Samsung are offering. Hold the consolation gifts; I'll get over it.
