renewed interest in the SMT-5600

I think I'm pretty happy with my nokia 6880 these days, especially since it syncs...I would be happier if there were a 1 GIG memory card available for it (perhaps there is, but i've only seen a half gig). I'd like if i could use it with y! music...and thus my interest has been piqued for the Audiovox SMT-5600.

i always kinda liked this phone. it's small, has a good browser, and a super fast java VM. and it also can play "plays for sure" media.

Symbian series 60 can play AAC and MP3 just fine, but i think i'd have to de DRM my iTunes files to play any music on it.

So i'm wondering, does plays for sure require a hardware chip for DRM, or can it be done with software? could a third party write a plays for sure player for the Series 60? would they have to buy a super expensive license from Microsoft? just a thought.
