One of the fun things about being me is that I can ignore the fact that people who have made untold billions investing in technology might know less than I do. Here's another example. I think the guys at Sequoia and Kleiner who believe that social networking is the heart of "internet 2.0" (as one Sequoia partner recently stated) are on the wrong boat. Content Syndication is going to violently change a) the way that people interact with each other and information, b) marketplaces, and c) just about every other facet of what we now think of as the way we use "the internet". Just because the early businesses in this space are probably focused on pieces that will result in poor business models doesn't mean there aren't 100 outstanding businesses here. It's coming, it's coming soon, and it's going to be huge. It's 1993 again, and it's going to be fun. Watch.
