Nick Tosches's The Last Opium Den.
A very quick read, and as I understand it, essentially the book form of a lengthy article originally published in Vanity Fair. No Matter, it's worth it. I've copied part of the back jacket summary just below in quotes....if the summary itself gets you excited, I can assure you that Tosches delivers.....a short but very soulful read. I love this guy. Brutal, uncloaked honesty delivered with passion and clarity of purpose. There are a few people on the planet who seem to me to "get" life. Tosches is one of them. More like this, Nick.
