Laughturbation

I recently got a comment on my Rules of Comedy: Prime Numbers post that I'd like to share with you....

Walter Valesky, xx@microbio.emery.edu This is not funny is what my friend says. But she is cool and has a life. Dancing monkeys would be funny especially to drunk people. Even when she was drunk this wasn't funny. You're not funny and neither are your 23 prime little friends. I actually think its kind of funny! My friend masturbates too much. Now that's funny.

Walter, you'll get no argument from me; dancing monkeys and chronic masturbation are way funnier than prime numbers. You need only walk into any 8th grade classroom across this great nation and say the words "masturbate" and "forty-one" to see which gets more laughs. It's not even close. Unfortunately, we can't all live in that "every day is mardi-gras"-like environment that apparently permeates the halls and labs of the microbiology department at Emory University. Of COURSE your friends are cool and have lives! They're rockin out their days at Emory drinking, constantly jacking-off, and growing all sorts of deadly microbes; If that's not living, what is? I remember how sad I was when my own post-graduate app to emory's microbiology department was turned down. "Not Funny Enough" inked in large red marker across the front of my application's cover page the only response I ever received.

I'll leave you with this one idea, Walter. If you can get those monkeys to dance AND masturbate at the same time? you've got yourself a broadway show that will never close.

ps, "you and your 23 prime little friends"....that's good stuff walter, see, because 23 is a prime number, thus, you're poking fun at my post AND prime also has a double meaning in this case: a) prime number and b) a synonym for "good" friend.....it's really quite good stuff, walter. If you can figure out how to start using commas, there's no stopping you. Peace.

Aspiring microbiologists who send e-mails to blogs? Funny. (Funny *sad*, but funny.)
