Cool New SmartCast Feature
Attention podcasters and vloggers: FeedBurner's SmartCast service now supports Yahoo! Media RSS. If you enable the "Media RSS" option in SmartCast, FeedBurner will automatically generate the appropriate Yahoo! Media RSS elements and submit your feed to Yahoo!'s rich media search index.
Media RSS will enable Yahoo! to do some exciting things with podcasts and video content in the near future, and this is a great way for you to integrate your content into Yahoo's search index now.
All you need to do is select the appropriate "Include Media RSS" checkboxes on the SmartCast service, and FeedBurner will generate the right tags for your feed and submit your content to Yahoo's rich media search index.
Now, in addition to the feed stats and the cool podcast style sheet, Yahoo! Media RSS support is another great reason to run your podcast or video blog through FeedBurner.
FeedBurner now manages over 5000 podcasts and video blogs. Express your individuality by joining everybody else in the FeedBurner tent!

That's great news!
Does this mean you support multiple enclosures per post? How about alternate format duplicate enclosures such as when posting the same video in two formats (WMV & QT) or the same podcast in (ogg and mp3)?
Can you please publish details or point me to details on how one should specify multiple enclosures in a standard blog post so they will be recognized properly by feedburner and parsed as MediaRSS?
Though I'm not officially associated with them I'll make an appeal to the ANT/Fire ANT group to start supporting Media RSS and we'll see how this all fits together.

We're starting with baby steps, Mike! We want to add more and more features over time, but right now we're sticking to the basic enclosure-like attributes, as well as the adult element and the title element. Supporting multiple enclosures per item (for alternate encodings, for example) is a logical next step.
The key to all of this will be to add the functionality in such a way that it doesn't become too convoluted for the publisher to specify the meta-information. Right now, it's pretty basic: you just need to link to the media file, with maybe a rel="enclosure" attribute. We want to expose the other rich metadata that Media RSS supports, but we want to make sure we make it very usable.
Thanks for the comments!
Sounds great, understandable. So, if I just put two files in with rel="enclosure" will it now make them both diseperate enclosures? Anxious to try this out to start putting tegether little pieces into a feed to create micro-programing.
The multi-formats enclosures is a big step. I wouldn't expect that in round one.
Thanks, Mike
I come from the other side. Having a mixed blog / podcast feed, will there be a problem with that or do you only enter when you media content?
Mike: Right now, max of one media:content per item. Didn't want to confuse the matter for publishers until we're clear about the grouping.
Nicole: No problem, we'll only generate the enclosures and media:content elements if you reference a rich media file in your post. Otherwise, it passes right through.
Great job! :-D
Is the Add to my yahoo feature not working? It is not working for my site and gives the error message unable to find RSS feed. Thanks for your help. Also, it is not tracking my stats appropriately. I am getting regular stat updates from sitemeter and there are no updates on the feedburner site. Thanks for your help.
