after mer de noms we all owe maynard james keenan a great big hug for giving us something we always wanted: a tool album we could play in the car with our wives or girlfriends riding shotgun without being asked to forward to the next disc in the changer, and for the lucky, a disc these significant others even liked. i'm not sure thirteenth step is going to satisfy that need. with eight songs over five minutes long, i dare you to find a track that will make its way onto the radio ("the noose" which might have had a shot comes in at 6:06). i can't complain about that, i don't listen to the radio - but my point is, although there's nothing offensive on this disc, without many repetitive listens, it will probably come off as a little boring. there are definitely some complex math rockers on thirteeth step, meaning i think these songs will be great for the long haul if you can get past the first ten listens. this disc most resembles the cure's disintegration, and i'm not saying that because it has a song called "lullaby" on it. a few songs, such as "the outsider" sound like they would be way more at home with tool than apc - dare i say it, it rocks, and not in a "Judith" type of way. if you are confused as to whether or not i am recommending this disc, so am i. but c'mon, you're a fan, go buy it. you gotta buy zooropa before you decide to stop listening to U2.

This cd gives me chills every time i listen to it! its an awesome cd to play while you're reading, writing, or trying to break away from reality. Take it on a road trip through the country, and stare out the window! It will literally take you away!

Thirteenth Step,
the second album from 'a perfect circle',
a band consisting of maynard james keenan, billy howerdel, james iha, josh freeze and now jeordie white... yes jeordie white, unfortunatly paz lenchantin is no longer with aperfect circle, but the bass lines still add effect and atmospere!
Ok, surely if your here, then you know what a perfect circle is about!, its a super band, full of amazing musicians, But does their latest album have it ???
Personaly, when i found that jeordie white was joining the band, i instantly felt that a perfect circle was going to head down hill... Common, marylin manson is not remotely inspiring, exept perhaps to little 6 year old kids... But i have to honestly say, the bass lines are great! (Im not sure if they were written by paz, or not!?)
Musicaly, the band again inspires me further, everytime i listen, i cant stop listening, its extremly addictive, and, it holds many things to be figured out, for example, is the album about drugs? religion? addiction? love ?
I would recommend this album to any fan of Nine inch Nails, Tool, A perfect circle, maynard james keenan, trent reznor, and other strong musical bands...i would'nt recommend this album to any marylin manson, papa roach or britney spears fans, because literally they dont and wont know music !!!!
