EA dumping Madden? say it isn't so

Gamespot is starting a rumor that EA could be ending it's fifteen year relationship with John Madden as the sponsor of their NFL game. Considering I still have a copy of "John Madden Power Football" right here on my shelf for the IBM AT, this is clearly Childhood's End for me. The end of an era.

I know John's old, and you are sick of putting him on Amtrack to do voiceovers, but c'mon, he doesn't have that many years left. You'll miss him when he's gone.

What seems to be less of a rumor is that EA signed an exclusive deal with the NFL for the teams, logos, and player likenesses - pretty much crippling all other NFL football video games.

Who wants to quarterback the Eagles with "Dominick McNabe"? No one, that's who. Put a fork in 'em, they're done.
