Press Releases as RSS

Dan Gilmore notes the emergence of press releases available as RSS feeds. The really cool thing about this, to me, is that the release can now become a living thing and not just a news blip that fades into oblivion after a couple days roll by. I'm not saying that this will cause any dramatic improvements in the way releases are created or managed or written (haven't seen an original release in years), but the possibility is there, and some right-thinking creative type will eventually seize the day and wake others up to the possibilities.

Actually, it's pretty exciting how you could really remake the entire notion of a release by syndicating it as a living channel. we'll see how clever people get with this. In the beginning, it will probably just mean that we'll start seeing the terms "flexible, scalable, industry-leaging, world's first" in our aggregators more frequently.
