An interesting article on PalmSource product management SNAFU's of releasing their OS roadmaps, and the trouble it has caused for licensees.

The key lesson learned is that when something is costly or difficult to develop for, developers will often wait until the "next version" which slows productivity on both sides.

Sometimes this is a good thing for the licensor, because they don't have as many licensees on old versions of platform, but it is a delicate balance.

6680 syncs! via Bluetooth!

TODO.jpg

holy sync batman, the version of Nokia Sync that comes with the 6680 actually works!

I've owned pretty much every generation of Nokia phone since they've been makin' 'em, and PC Sync has never once worked as advertised. It always seems to have some device driver trouble, or partially sync items, or bluescreen my computer, or something.

I tried using the 6630 version (which had troubles) with the 6680, and it had even more troubles, so i decided to actually install the version that came with the phone, and it worked.

AND, it synced via Bluetooth with no problems. Now I can actually have all my tasks and calendar and everything on my Nokia phone.

woo hoo!

reader chosen AdSense ads

adsense-changing.gif

I just noticed that looking at this blog - that is assuming you actually see the blog and not just the feed - that my Google AdSense ads now allow you, the reader, to change which ads you see.

That's pretty cool.

This must be more of that hip AJAX programming I've read about and has been buzzworded to death.

blox0r

If you use firefox, and like to browse feeds, you should give blox0r a try, at least to see a cool use of technology.

It's amazing what can be done with just a browser these days.

Which web aggregator am I using these days?

Still Newsburst. I'd like to use Rojo, but it's still too slow. Bloglines? never anymore.

update: this is an XUL application
