seems like 6680 memory card woes are real
I posted awhile ago on 6680 ate my memory card and thought maybe i was nuts, but it looks like this is a real issue.
Since I switched over to a third party card, however I have had no problems, so perhaps are these just bad memory cards Nokia packed with these phones?

I had a similar problem with the card that came with my 6620. It read fine, but once I attempted to reformat it, it became permanently corrupted. I could plonk it into a USB reader attached to the Mac, format to a FAT16 filesystem, but the phone would never accept it.
A Kingston 256mb card fresh from the store works perfectly without corruption. I think Nokia just bought some crappy 32mb cards for packing in the boxes.

I've spoken to a technician at a Nokia service center, and according to him, a number of MMCs are indeed crap. You can recognize them by their serial number. Look at the back, next to the CE stamp. Its S/N: HB28N064RM3D. If the second row of numbers ends in something between A300500 and A300520 (apparently this is the "week code"), then your card is crap. You should be able to get a new one at a service center, that's what I did.
